The bitcoin unit ladder
Bitcoin has one base unit in everyday use. 1 BTC = 100,000,000 satoshi (10^8). The satoshi, named after bitcoin's creator, is the smallest indivisible amount. Some interfaces also show intermediate units like the bit (100 satoshi), but satoshi and BTC cover almost all developer work.
