Mixer (tumbler)
A crypto mixer, or tumbler, is a service that pools and redistributes cryptocurrency from many users to obscure the link between the source and destination of funds.
Mixers break the traceable link between addresses, which is why exposure to a mixer is treated as a strong AML risk signal. Some mixers are sanctioned outright. Risk-scoring and fund-flow tracing specifically flag whether an address received funds from, or sent funds to, a mixer and at what hop distance, so compliance teams can act on it.
